AIAA Holding Standards Open Forum On 7 June Written 25 April 2017

AIAA will be holding a Standards Open Forum on 7 June 2017 in conjunction with the AIAA AVIATION Forum in Denver, CO.  The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the AIAA Standards program and the new standards operational structure which is aimed at providing better overall guidance as well as a better connection to the AIAA Board and its strategic initiatives.  The new AIAA standards structure calls for the establishment of a Standards Steering Committee supported by subcommittees that will oversee and manage the various standards domains, the standards development process, member recruitment and member recognition.

AIAA Standards Domains include areas such as commercialization of space, aerospace cybersecurity, information systems, advanced manufacturing, autonomy, and hybrid electric propulsion/electric aircraft.

At the Open Forum, we will be recruiting volunteers and requesting nominations of candidates to populate the new committees and domains. There will be discussions of current and upcoming standards, review of what new standards are needed and what standards may need to be revised or withdrawn.

The Standards Open Forum will take place at the AIAA AVIATION Forum in Denver, CO. The meeting details are as follows:

Wednesday, 7 June 2017
