Distinguished Lecturers to Speak at
AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition
Lectures Recognize Achievement in Basic and Applied Research and Public Policy

December 1, 2014 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is pleased to announce that two distinguished lecturers will speak during the AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition (AIAA SciTech 2015), January 5–9 at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

Professor Dame Ann P. Dowling, President, Royal Academy of Engineering, The United Kingdom, will present the AIAA Dryden Lecture in Research on Tuesday, January 6 at 5:30 pm (EDT). The title of Professor Dame Dowling’s lecture is “Aeroacoustics.”

The Dryden Lectureship in Research, named in honor of Dr. Hugh L. Dryden, former director of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, and a renowned proponent of the value of research programs to aerospace, emphasizes the important role of basic research in the advancement of engineering and science in aerospace, and salutes the work that research scientists and engineers perform.

Michael W. Wynne, former secretary of the Air Force and senior advisor to the president of The Stevens Institute, will present the AIAA Durand Lecture for Public Service at 12:30 pm (EDT) on Monday, January 5. The title of Wynne’s lecture is “Making an Impact in Public Service.”

The Durand Lectureship, created by the AIAA Board of Directors in 1983, and named in honor of William F. Durand, honors notable achievements by a scientific or technical leader, whose contributions have led directly to the understanding and application of the science and technology of aeronautics and astronautics for the betterment of mankind.
