US, South Korea's "Largest-Ever" Air Exercise Includes F-22s, F-35s Written 4 December 2017

Reuters reports that South Korean and US forces “launched their largest-ever joint aerial drills on Monday, officials said.” The drills come amid global tensions in the wake of North Korea’s test of a new long-range missile last week. The annual Vigilant Ace drills will run through Friday, with “more than 230 aircraft taking part” in the exercise. A US Air Force spokesman in South Korea said that this year’s drills will include the largest number of 5th generation fighters to date. Nearly 12,000 US Navy and Marine personnel will join South Korean troops to “enhance readiness and operational capability and to ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula, the U.S. military had said before the drills began.” South Korean media reported that B-1B bombers may join the exercise, but the Air Force would not confirm the claim.
