AFRL Invites Industry Proposals To Advance Space Technology, Scientific Knowledge Written 26 February 2018

Space News reports that the space-focused section of the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has invited proposals from the private sector “to advance the technology and scientific knowledge supporting all aspects of space systems,” according to a solicitation posted February 23. The AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate issued the request as Air Force “senior leaders continue to push for faster technological change and innovation in the space business.” The directorate “is interested in industry pitches on everything from launch, payload adapters, on-orbit systems, communications links, ground systems and user equipment.” The AFRL especially hopes to attract bids from small businesses, but called the invitation a “full and open competition.” Proposals are due by April 9.
