Trump Signs FAA Reauthorization Bill Written 9 October 2018
CBS News reported that President Donald Trump signed the “FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018” Friday, extending FAA funding through 2023 just ahead of an October 7 deadline. ExecutiveGov reported that Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen Nielsen “said in a statement that the recently passed FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 would increase the government’s capacity to protect U.S. citizens from drone-induced threats.” According to Nielsen, the department’s “lack of authorities also prevented us from testing truly needed drone-defense technologies,” and she praised Congress for taking a “major step forward to address these vulnerabilities.”
