December 17, 2018 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of its 2017-2018 Graduate Team Aircraft Design Competition – Advanced Pilot Training Aircraft. 

The competition asked AIAA student teams to design an advanced pilot training aircraft. 

The winners are: 

  • First Prize: University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, for their design “FSB-TX Advanced Jet Trainer.” Tibor Gašparac, Matea Lišnić, Hrvoje Magdić, Antonio Golub, Kristijan Ruklić, Vjekoslav Sraga, Antonio Klasnić, Antonio Jurišić, Fran Delić, Ivan Kovačević. Prof. Pero Prebeg, faculty advisor; Prof. Milan Vrdoljak, faculty advisor. Team name: FSB-TX.

  • Second Prize: Université de Liège, Liège, Belgium, for their design “The Coyote-A Training Jet Fighter.”Raphaël Dubois, Thibault Laurent, Alex Le Van, Nayan Levaux, Guillaume Noiset, Axel Piret, Arthur Scheffer, Vincent Schmitz. Dr. Grigorios Dimitriadis, faculty advisor; Dr. Ludovic Noels, faculty advisor. Team name: The Beep Beep Hunting Club.

  • Third Prize: Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, for their design A Cost-efficient Multi-task APTA”Zahra Kamankesh, M. Hasan Sabeti, S. Reza Fattahi Masoom, Farid Rassouli, Ashkan Bagherzadeh, Milad Gheibi, Amir Hajizadeh, Mahsa A. Nakhost, Mohammad Beigi, Sina Nazifi, Amir Jahanbakhsh. Prof. S. Mohamad Bagher Maleek, faculty advisor. Team name: ShadX.
