AIAA President Congratulates Dr. Kelvin Droegemeier
January 3, 2019 – Reston, Va. –The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) congratulates former National Science Board vice chairman Kelvin Droegemeier on being confirmed as Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
AIAA President John Langford made the following statement upon Dr. Droegemeier’s confirmation:
“For too long the executive branch has functioned without a qualified leader to advise on scientific and technical matters related to national security, the economy, and innovation. I welcome the confirmation of Dr. Droegemeier, and I am encouraged by his desire to address three areas of importance to the aerospace community: expanding investments in research and development, promoting STEM education and workforce development, and supporting new models for public-private partnerships that can transform research into products for the marketplace. AIAA looks forward to supporting him in his new role in helping shape the administration's priorities for science and technology policy.”
