NASA Selects SpaceX Falcon Heavy For Psyche Launch Written 2 March 2020
Florida Today reported that NASA has chosen SpaceX’s “triple-core Falcon Heavy rocket for the launch of a high-profile mission to study an asteroid in 2022, the agency announced Friday.” The Psyche spacecraft is “designed to study a metal asteroid orbiting the sun between Mars and Jupiter.” It is scheduled for a July 2022 launch from Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A. According to NASA, the contract is worth $117 million. The project is led by Arizona State University and managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
