GM Exploring Electric Flying Cars, According to Sources Written 16 September 2020

Reuters reports that General Motors is exploring options for entering the aerial taxi market, “including whether to build the vehicles known colloquially as ‘flying cars,’ as part of a push by the US automaker to look for growth in related transportation markets, two people familiar with the matter said.” According to CEO Mary Barra, this would fit with the development of its Ultium advanced electric battery and electric vehicles. Although electric air taxis would reduce traffic on roads, its implementation might add to air congestion because of the need to fly low-level routes.
