AIAA Statement on Incoming Biden Administration Science and Technology Announcement Written 16 January 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 16, 2021 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) praises the recent science and technology announcement by President-elect Joe Biden.

AIAA Executive Director Dan Dumbacher made the following statement:

“As the world’s largest aerospace technical society, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) welcomes the Biden Administration’s renewed focus on science and praises the president-elect’s decision to elevate the role of the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy to a Cabinet-level position. This move is necessary as the world faces an ongoing pandemic and continued threats resulting from climate change. Science will guide us through these difficult times and science will ultimately tackle the complex challenges of defending our way of life and consistently improving our society. We will follow with interest the Senate’s confirmation process of the White House science team nominees. We look forward to working with the incoming Biden Administration as the aerospace industry continues to provide new systems and opportunities to provide essential transportation for our economy, improve life on earth, and extend the human neighborhood from low earth orbit to deep space.”
