AIAA Statement on Working with the Biden Administration and 117th Congress Written 20 January 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 20, 2021 – Reston, Va. – AIAA Executive Director Dan Dumbacher made the following statement after the Inaugural Ceremonies for President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala D. Harris:

“Today we witnessed the peaceful transition of power to the newly elected leaders of the democracy of the United States of America. We are forever grateful for this unrivaled and exceptional tradition. AIAA is committed to working together with the new administration and members of Congress on improving the future for all Americans.

AIAA believes the United States must continue to ensure the viability of the civil aviation industry in the near term with sustained bipartisan policies, programs, and investment to allow for the stabilization and potential future growth of the industry during these unprecedented times. Likewise, the importance of U.S. space activities to the modern economy, our way of life, and our global stature cannot be understated.

AIAA believes it is essential to bring people of all backgrounds together to further our industry – which can uniquely support our national and international goals and build a better life for everyone on Earth. AIAA is committed to creating an environment that fosters a diverse and inclusive dialogue. Our current virtual event, 2021 SciTech Forum, is focused on accelerating innovation through diversity, with a public policy session tomorrow, Thursday, January 21, that will look ahead at what to expect from the aerospace and defense industry in 2021.

We look forward to the progress of the Biden Administration and the 117th Congress on making important policy decisions that will maintain and heighten the United States’ preeminence in aerospace and defense.”
