South Korea Unveils First KF-X Prototype Written 12 April 2021

FlightGlobal reported that on Friday, the first prototype of the Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) KF-X fighter program “was unveiled during a ceremony at KAI’s Sacheon production facility.” Reuters reported that the next-generation aircraft, officially named the KF-21 Boromae, is “designed to be a cheaper, less-stealthy alternative to the U.S.-built F-35, on which South Korea relies.” During Friday’s ceremony, President Moon Jae-in “hailed the KF-X as the future backbone of the air force and a step toward the U.S. ally’s greater military independence.”
