ExecutiveGov reported that NASA “plans to partner with commercial companies for the development of future space-based facilities as the International Space Station nears the end of service life.” NASA Director of Commercial Spaceflight Phil McAlister said the collaboration with commercial companies would allow NASA to focus more on deep space exploration.
