Dr Naomi Allen is a Senior Technologist in the Sustainability and Strategy team at the Aerospace Technology Institute. She joined the ATI in 2019, initially in the Whole Aircraft team where she worked on future aircraft concepts, and the development of models and tools to support UK industry in understanding the aircraft-level impact of technology innovation. In her current role, Naomi is leading the ATI’s sustainability modelling activities, building on the ATI’s aircraft modelling capability to understand the global fleet decarbonisation opportunities for novel fuels, architectures, and technologies. Other areas of her work include developing the ATI’s understanding of the non-CO2 impact of aviation, and technology road-mapping for Net Zero 2050.
Before joining the ATI, Naomi most recently worked in Formula 1 for Mercedes GP developing wind tunnel test capability and optical techniques. Prior to that she worked in aerospace as an aerodynamicist. Naomi has an MSc from Cranfield University in Aircraft Engineering and a PhD on airflow sensor design from Durham University.
