Dr. Alexander Walan joined DARPA in September 2017 as a program manager in the Tactical Technology Office. His current focus areas include technology development and demonstration of advanced aircraft technologies with particular focus on rapid design, prototyping, and flight demonstration.

Prior to joining DARPA, Walan served as a program manager at the Air Force Research Lab where he oversaw a broad technology portfolio of over 70 projects designed for transition to the warfighter. He has also held positions in the F-35 Joint Program Office, on Combined Joint Task Force PALADIN, and in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition (SAF/AQ).

Walan received a Doctor of Engineering degree from George Washington University, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
