Ayodeji T. Bode-Oke Wins AIAA 2015 Zarem Award For Distinguished Achievement in Aeronautics

August 20, 2015 – Reston, Va. –Ayodeji T. Bode-Oke from the University of Virginia (UVA), Charlottesville, Virginia, has won the 2015 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ (AIAA) Abe M. Zarem Award for Distinguished Achievement in Aeronautics.
The award honors Bode-Oke for his paper: “Optimized Body Deformation in Dragonfly Maneuvers.” He has been invited to present his paper at the 30th Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences, September 25–30, 2016, in Daejeon, South Korea.
The Zarem award also recognizes the faculty advisor of the award winner, reflecting Dr. Zarem’s belief that the guidance of faculty members is fundamental to the success of student research. Haibo Dong, an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UVA, will receive a certificate of recognition for his work with Bode-Oke.

AIAA also will recognize Bode-Oke and Dong during an awards luncheon at the AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition, January 4–8, 2016, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, California.
AIAA Honorary Fellow Dr. Abe Zarem, founder and managing director of Frontier Associates, established the Abe M. Zarem Award for Distinguished Achievement to annually recognize graduate students, in aeronautics or astronautics, who have demonstrated outstanding scholarships in their fields and who are pursuing Master’s degrees.
