AIAA President Congratulates Dr. Mark Esper
July 23, 2019 – Reston, Va. – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) congratulates Dr. Mark Esper on being confirmed as the 27th Secretary of Defense.
AIAA President John Langford made the following statement upon Dr. Esper’s confirmation:
“Secretary Esper brings a great deal of experience to the role as former Army secretary, industry official, congressional staffer, and combat veteran. He also has a solid understanding of the aerospace community given his previous work as chief operating officer of our sister society, the Aerospace Industries Association. AIAA looks forward to working with Secretary Esper as the department continues to modernize key capabilities, streamline the defense acquisition process, address our national security space needs, and maintain our preeminence over our adversaries.”
