Aerospace America reports that on Wednesday, Boom Supersonic unveiled its XB-1 demonstrator aircraft. The “carbon fiber demonstrator plane is one-third the size of the planned 65-passenger Overture airliners the company intends to eventually build. With a cruising speed of Mach 2.2, the flight time from Washington, D.C., to Paris would be cut in half to four hours, even with the planes restricted to flying subsonically when over land.” Boom plans begin passenger flights of Overture aircraft in 2029, though that date “depends on a smooth test flight campaign for XB-1.”
